A WARM WELCOME TO YOGA MERMAID
ESPECIALLY IN THE VERY BEGINNING OF THE WARM SEASONS, WE'D LIKE TO INVITE YOU TO JOIN US IN A PHYSICAL AND SPIRITUAL RENEWAL
IN THE COMING MONTHS, WE WILL TAKE ALL ECOMERMAIDS AND ECOMERMEN THROUGH A WONDROUS AND NURTURING ADVENTURE. THOSE OF YOU WHO JOIN US WILL FIND THEMSELVES ENTERING A SACRED WORLD AS INTENSE AS ANY UNDERWATER WONDERLAND, WHERE THE YOGA MERMAID WILL GENTLY LEAD YOU TO EXPERIENCE A MORE YOUTHFUL, ENERGETIC, OPEN, FLEXIBLE, AND HAPPY REBIRTH. IT ALL STARTS WITH THE SIMPLEST AND MOST NATURAL EXERCISE OF ALL, SIMPLY BREATHING IN LIGHT FROM OUR VIBRANT OCEAN OF AIR.
Some people consider and care for only themselves. We would say that their borders extend only as far as their physical bodies.
Even in marriages, it is all too common to witness the pain in couples caused by this unwillingness to surround the partner with this unseen circle of concern and love. Unless this occurs, and willingly, and openly, distress will always ensue, despite desperate measures by the other partner. It is very sad to watch. And very a very unnecessary source of suffering.
And then, there are those whose boundaries, whose circle of love, extends o nly as far as around one' s children. This is another common and painful scenario. This causes more unhappy couplings than any other issue. The most often seen boundary of this type causes, usually, the man, to feel outcast from the family circle. So often, despite the admonitions of all the great world religions, a parents' main concern in life is for her/his children, rather than his/her mate. one's mate must always come first in a good marriage or coupling, These tragic circumstances need not continue.
No matter what, it seems that we, as primates, are only able to muster unconditional love for a scant few, in general. This, as Freud had pointed out, is merely part of our species group and as he'd remarked, dogs and many other beings do easily offer unconditional love, but we are also capable of it.
With the aid of the universe, we, too, can learn to love unconditionally- to expand our own boundaries and to embrace the compassion and the creativity of the God Force. We can adopt the simple lovingness which we see in the eyes of all innocent creatures. All beings share with us the capacity to feel, to have emotions, to care, to fear, to love. We know that all the religions and philosophies show us how to become channels of love, and it is to this aim - toward unconditional love - that most spiritual people aspire. There may be always some sort of a pecking order in a crisis or emergency, but beyond that, we can all learn to expand our boundaries to include the entire universe.
In prayer or meditation, simply see the white light of love enfold not just oneself, not just one's own family, but then, the neighborhood, the township, the state, the country, the world, the planetary system, and on and on.
God is everywhere, most would agree, so why not enfold even every aspect of creation in one' s own circle of love?
The spiral is one of our oldest symbols, and an archtypal one, evoking mystical feelings whenever viewed. I myself use it to denote creativity, using it in margins of writings which are destined to become actual articles, stories, books, artworks. I see in it the act of creation, and in many cultures, it stood for the creative force in the universe.
I see in it now the seamless enfolding of one' s spiritual, soul, boundaries, from the tiny speck of oneself, springing ever outward to embrace the entire universe.
Merely to practice this exercise is opening one' s soul to all - is to feel the rightness of it, the filling up of love and energy, and the healing inside. To mediatate, to spiritfix to fix one's own spirit, meaning to heal, to find, locate the part of you which is connected to God and to all living beings, is first to become an open, willing, and purified vessel, a conduit from the love of the universe through one's own body, so we'd like to focus o n the preparation of the vehicle - your own body - for the miracles of transformation, leading to health, beauty, longevity, and cosmic energy.
Yoga Mermaid Meditation 1 - Expansion
Let us start our Yoga Mermaid exercises with this imagery, with this exercise - find a quiet spot, sit, lie down, or stand comfortably, close your eyes, imagine a circle of white light inside you, starting at the middle of your body. Then allow it to grow as you take in your first breath through your nose, hold it for a moment, and then let it out through your mouth, expanding your chest and stomach as you go, and then allowing the light to surround your whole body, then, continuing to take breaths, with each o ne, up to ten to being with, relaxing, see the light expanding ever farther. If you'd like, you may create the light as loving circles around you, ever growing, or as o ne huge disc, or enveloping bath of light. The important thing is to know that the light is love, and that with every second you are growing more at peace with all the world, and closer to God, and allowing God's healing energy and love into your own soul, expanding it and itàs boundaries ever outward to embrace every living being o n our planet, and then the stars and the entire universe with your own love, combined with that of all other loving beings and with God Himself.
If you prefer, you may freely substitute the name of a higher power, or of love itself, or light, but I know we all understand the word, God.
There is no need to take in huge breaths. Little ones will suffice.
After this exercise, you will feel lighter, more loving, and renewed, and after doing this every day, you'll feel more at home in our world, more a part of our planet, and you'll have realized that we are all related, all of us, every living being, every tree, every bobcat, every bird, every cow, and that our true nature enjoins us to be kind, to be loving and compassionate, to every being.
From this, take your newfound soulfulness and capacity to love into living action. With every prayer, with every thought, with every behaviour, become a better, more loving being. You will become love in action. Love, after all, is a verb. Love is an act of choice, of will. We decide to be loving, or to withhold. With this lesson, you will learn how really wonderful it feels to be the way you were meant to be, a being of love.
Make choices which reflect your expanded soul. When shopping, remember the animals who now live in continuous pain in factory farms, in laboratories. Pray for them. Buy only cruelty-free products. Become vegetarian, and then, vegan. Think of offering your help, your donations, your time to volunteer. You will find that the hours spent in helping the helpless, innocent beings of our world are the most enriching hours of your life. Giving is receiving.
Even if starting out, just eating vegan for one meal a day, making meals kindness meals, will bring you closer to love. Think of that innocent being you have spared by your compassionate choice. Think of how your kindness and healhiness will radiate outward, and will touch and influence other people to also become enlightened.
Think of how many lives you can save each year! Think of how much healthier you will be, youthful, energetic, beautiful!
Just by expanding one's circle of concern, boundary of love, to include those less fortunate, those who are suffering, those innocent souls, you will have joined with universal love and become generous, kind, loving.
A beautiful, loving vessel can only bring harmony into the world, and can only be healed.
Becoming more loving, being kind, will bring health and harmony and radiance to you.
Learn to live love and to feel worthy of blessings and at peace with all life, with all beings. This is the essence of living - to bring blessings to the world by our very lives, to make this planet better by our having lived here. Surround yourself with love and let your own life be a spiral of compassion, ever growing outward.
You will then become a Yoga Mermaid or a Yoga Merman, allying yourself with our planet, Sea, the Ultimate Mermaid, in a great harmony of healing.
As we go on, Yoga Mermaid will showcase, first, more breathing exercises and spiritual meditations, and then we will progress to some simple postures and later on, to those which are more involved.
Our companion manual and video will be available soon at our own bookstore site, Bookize , as well as some soothing Yoga Mermaid Music CDs to accompany your healthy and spiritual journies.
