Frogs and Toads
What would the world be without frogs?
What would childhood be?
Remember ? Hopping around, imitating them, playing leapfrog, squatting down in creek banks, feet muddy, wet all over, happily watching little baby frogs take their first tiny jumps.
Or later, looking just to the side of your porch light on the ground and seeing a magnificent toad with his toes pointing slightly inward, staring at you in friendly fascination?
Have you seen the beautiful statues from the Orient depicting the regal form of toads in all their wisdom and beauty?
And have you seen the many colors and types of tree frogs that live all around our planet?
Sadly, the golden tree frog of Costa Rica has already become extinct due to human pollution.
We want to make sure all the others stay with us, don't we?
They're so wonderful!
Did you get to watch baby tadpoles as they swam around just beneath the surface on a hot day near a pond? And did you marvel at their transformation going o n right before your eyes?
And when you'd want to hold o ne for a moment, remember how he'd pee o n your hand so he could get you to let him go?
Cute, adorable, yes, but very intelligent and great at what they do in life - marvelously equipped for their lives, except for one thing - their skins are very sensitive, like redheads, and our pollution of their environment - yes, the atmosphere belongs just as much to frogs and toads as it does to you and me - more so, since we're the only ones who can heal the world and also, the only ones who are polluting it, so we're doubly responsible for making sure that the frogs and toads we adore stay safe!
Let's visit these links and make sure we always have that lovely croaking frogs make at twilight in the Spring and that we always will see a still-as-a-statue toad sitting under our shrubs at night.
