Last year, the United Nations officially declared June 8 as World Oceans Day. It took 16 years, but it finally happened. And now, there's more reason than ever to make a big hubbub over the event. Our shorelines are undergoing some especially heartbreaking struggles thanks to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. The theme for 2010 is “Our oceans: opportunities and challenges” -- we know so many of the challenges that face us. So today, let's take advantage of some opportunities to help.
