46% Energy Effieciency Boost from Terawatt Solar Thermal Tracking System

Terawatt solar thermal tracking technology maximises its ability to capture the Sun's energy by tracking the Sun's movement through the sky to maintain its solar collection area at the optimum angle. The system consists high performing evacuated solar tubes and a tracking system that manoeuvres approximately 15° every hour and returns to a starting position at the end of the day, ready to capture the maximum energy the following morning. In 2010, in conjunction with the Dundalk Institute of Technology (DKIT), Terawatt demonstrated that a 46% increase in solar energy conversion to thermal is achieved from the Terawatt Sun tracking system in comparison to a conventional system, where solar panels are in a fixed position.
