Visa Requirements

The Netherlands is part of the European Union, and has a unified visa system as part of the Schengen Area. Visitors from other E.U. or Schengen countries do not need a visa to enter the Netherlands. Next to E.U. countries, there are several other countries that are Visa-exempt.

If you come from outside of the European Union, please contact a local Dutch embassy to check whether you require a visa to enter the Netherlands.


Euro Coin
The Netherlands uses Euro (€) as the local currency (for current exchange rates, please check exchange is available at Schiphol Airport as well as Utrecht Central train station. But you can also withdraw money from an ATM, which widely available all across the country (locate them). MasterCard and VISA Credit Cards are also widely accepted (but not always for small amounts so make sure you also have some cash). US visitors, note that you require a Chip-and-Pin Credit Card in order to use it in the Netherlands.
