Emmanuele Bobbio

I am an economist working on electricity market design and transmission planning. I lead interdisciplinary teams of engineers, computer scientists, and economists to solve new and complex problems.

I am a senior lead at PJM Interconnection LLC, where I lead long-term planning activities, including resource adequacy projections, FERC Order No. 1920 compliance efforts, prototyping of modeling tools, and collaborations with universities and national labs.

Before joining PJM, I was a principal at Cramton Associates, providing consulting services on electricity markets and telecommunication auction design and strategy. I also worked at the University of Maryland and the University of Cologne, researching and teaching market design, at the Bank of Italy, where I was responsible for forecasting employment and wages for monetary policy decisions and researching labor markets and economic growth, and the Region of Tuscany, where I was the minister of education and overhauled the vocational education and training system. I hold an MA and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
