Guitar lessons with Bryan Watson:

-       Half hour lesson is $25

-       Students have to have their own guitar. They come in different sizes depending on the age of the student. The Cordoba company makes quarter size classical guitars, and they have a fairly good track record of making inexpensive (around $150), solid guitars. A footstool is also helpful (but not totally necessary) in holding the guitar.

-       The lesson book, Aaron Shearer's Classic Guitar Technique vol. 1, is $14 on Amazon.

-       Minimum age is 8 years old.

-       Please contact and meet with Bryan before making a purchase, or to ask him questions:

Violin lessons with Beth Scott:

  • Half hour lesson is $28.  Beth teaches children using the Suzuki method.

  • You have to purchase or rent your own instrument. Violins come in different sizes to fit the student’s height and arm length, so you must contact Beth and meet with her prior to lessons to decide how big of an instrument to rent/purchase. She has a few rentals available, with recommendations for other places to rent or purchase.

  • In addition to the weekly lesson, there is also a bi-monthly group lesson, which will also take place at the church on Thursdays from 10 to 10:45am. There is a separate fee for these lessons, which includes several other activities and recital opportunities within Beth’s studio. The fee is $100 per student, which covers the entire year of group lessons and recitals.  There is a 50% discount on the group lesson/recital fee for a second child in the family.

  • The Suzuki method book and CD are not expensive, around $13 for the set.

  • Suzuki lessons can start students as early as 4 years old.

Flute lessons:

        -    Both our violin and piano teachers are also flute teachers! If anyone is interested in flute lessons (starting at age 5), please let us know! If a half hour doesn't fill for one of those teachers, we can make it into a flute lesson instead.
