Rebecca Kilgore-Longtin is in her 9th year at East Rockford Middle School and in her 15th year of teaching. In the past years, the bands at East Rockford have received high honors at District and State Band Festivals. Prior to East Rockford Middle School, she taught in the Kelloggsville Public Schools and Kalamazoo Public Schools. While at Kelloggsville Public Schools, Mrs. Kilgore developed the music program from 19 students in the high school band to over 80 students. She received her Bachelors of Music degree from Western Michigan University and her Masters in Music Education degree from VanderCook College of Music.
In January of 2013, the ERMS Symphonic Band will perform at the Michigan Music Conference (MMC). They were selected as one of two Middle School Bands to perform out teh entire state of Michigan.
Mrs. Kilgore was nominated for the Who’s Who Among American Teachers award two times and was nominated for the Strathmore’s Who’s Who Award in 2006. Mrs. Kilgore is an active adjudicator for MSBOA Solo and Ensemble District/State Festivals and MSBOA District Band Festival. She served on the executive board for MSBOA District X as Medals and Plaques Chairperson for six years.
Mrs. Kilgore teaches private flute lessons in the Grand Rapids area. She lives in Rockford with her husband David, their daughters Madison (6 years old) and Elizabeth ( 2 years old), and their dog Minnie.
