4-year-olds (Dinos)

Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays 9:30-12:00

A Typical Day at the preschool:

9:30-9:40  Welcome Circle
Parents and children gather in the circle room to begin the day.  Parents read books to the children; students greet one another.  The teacher begins with a song and welcomes everyone to preschool.  She presents examples of the various choices of activities for the day and then invites the children into the preschool room.

9:40-10:50  Choice Time
A large part of the day is child-directed.  Children have a variety of opportunities to explore, use their imaginations, manipulate materials, and create things.  Choices include but are not limited to:  art projects, sensory activities, science exploration, block and large motor play, dramatic play, prepare-your-own-snack, imagination station, etc.

10:50-11:00  Clean Up Time
The children are invited to help put away playdough, tidy writing station, and do general straightening up.

11:00-11:30  Group Times
The Teacher takes half of the children into the circle room.  Group time consists of discussions, music, math, reading, and sharing among peers. Music time is full of various types of music and rhythms, instruments and movement props. Meanwhile, the other children stay with parents to do puzzles, other hands-on learning materials, and reading books till it's their turn for circle time.

11:30-12:00  Outside Play
Children end the day outdoors. There is a wonderful play area, fully fenced, with a large swing set with a slide and tire swing, two play houses, a real wooden motor boat, a large sandbox, a circular bike path, and playground equipment, including large tricycles, sand tractors, trucks, shovels and toys, and balls.

Field Trips
The children participate in field trips approximately once every other month.  All field trips involve stimulating educational opportunities for the children and their families.
