December 2011
Emily Wiffen
It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of EDWG member Emily Wiffen on 13th December 2011. Emily had only just turned 30.

Emily joined EDWG in September 2009 and immediately became a very active member. She came to many regular meetings, reading from her novel Our Street. A chapter from that novel was included in Hoovering the Roof 2, bringing her talent and unique voice to a wider audience. Emily worked hard promoting the EDWG anthologies - she organised several of our events, read at many of them, and also helped sell the book at various fairs and stalls. Above and beyond all of this, Emily was a delight to know - kind, funny and generous of spirit. She will be missed.

We Won! Hoovering the Roof 2 named winner of the Denise Robertson Group Anthology Prize at the NAWG Festival of Writing
We are absolutely delighted to announce that our second anthology, Hoovering the Roof 2 is this year's winner of the Denise Robertson Prize for a Group Anthology. The announcement was made at the National Association of Writers' Groups' Festival of Writing. EDWG member Barbara Zuckriegl attended the Festival and accepted the award on behalf of the group at the Gala dinner on 3rd September. More details to follow when Barbara returns from the Festival.

Congratulations to all the contributors to Hoovering the Roof 2. Watch this space for news of the next anthology, planned for 2012, and a new Flash Fiction competition open to all writers.

Hoovering the Roof 2 nominated for the NAWG awards
For the second year in a row, the EDWG anthology has been shortlisted for the Denise Robertson Group Anthology Awards, part of the National Association of Writers' Groups annual awards. The winners will be announced at the Annual Festival of Writing in Nottingham in early September.

This is a great validation for our writers and an acknowledgement of all the hard work that members have put in to making our anthologies both beautiful to look at and a pleasure to read.

Drinks all round!

Hoovering the Roof 2 now available

After months of discussion the name of our  second anthology will be Hoovering the Roof 2. This is not as underwhelming as it seems. The group itself voted for 'Dusting the Clouds' but the whopping response on the public vote for keeping 'Hoovering the Roof' swayed most doubters. It is clear there is a great deal of affection for the name. And that's a good thing.

Hoovering the Roof 2 is now available from all the usual outlets. Click here to buy directly from us at a discount. And don't miss our signings and readings - click here for details of all our upcoming events.
