Did you hear about http://neighborhoodgoods.net on NPR? I didn't, but I heard about it on Facebook. It's basically an online inventory of things people own that they're willing to loan to neighbors - anything from branch clippers to karaoke machines. People who borrow are given a rating by the lenders, which helps keep borrowers on good behavior.
