Welcome to Earobics 201! This ear training module was created to help intermediate level musicians improve their ability to hear and recognize common chord progressions derived from the major scale. 

Getting started
  1. Click on the Pre-test link and enter your name in the Pre-test sign in box. Please give a minute or two for each page to load. Module works best when viewed through Mozilla Firefox.
  2. Read the questions from the Pre-test page and review the corresponding listening examples.
  3. Select your answer from the multiple choice options. Be sure to submit your answers at the bottom of the page when you have completed all of the questions.
How to approach module
  1. Review sections 1-3.
  2. Click on the Post-test when you have completed all of the sections of the module and are ready to put your listening skills to the test.
Assessing what you have learned
  1. Click on the Post-test link and enter your name in the Post-test sign in box.
  2. Read the questions from the Post-test page and review the corresponding listening examples.
  3. Select your answer from the multiple choice options. Be sure to submit your answers at the bottom of the page when you have completed all of the questions.


  Tips for getting the most out of this module
  • Play the listening examples notated with chord charts on your instrument (e.g. guitar, piano, ukulele). Experiment and play the progressions in multiple keys.
F.A.Q.s
  1. Do I have to know how to read music to benefit from this module? Absolutely not. However, it is recommended that you memorize the formulas (whole-steps & half-steps) for constructing a major scale and harmonized major scale. It is also recommended that you memorize the chord types (e.g. I=major, II=minor, etc…) associated with each 3 and 4-part chord scale.
  2. How do I find out the results of my test scores? Submit an email address to michaelkato@michaelkato.com. Your test results will be returned ASAP.
