How we help

We work with midwives, health workers and charities who care for women in our local communities with a newborn baby who are in desperate need.

We collect donations of new and lightly used mum & baby items such as moses baskets and sleep suits and we create hampers of essential items to help give the best start possible to the baby as well as easing the burden on mum.

The health professionals we liaise with give our hampers to the women who are in the most need, meaning that you can be sure that your donations reach the best possible place.

As mothers ourselves, we understand how overwhelming becoming a mother can be. We want to do what we can to help other mums at this daunting time who are sometimes heading into hospital without being able to provide anything at all for their newborn baby.

We rely on the generosity of local mums and businesses to donate a range of essential mum & baby items to help us create our hampers. You can find out how to help in more detail here.

So far our donations have made a huge difference to local women.

Here's a selection of the feedback we've received:

‘When we have given any of your super baskets to the mums the expressions on their faces are amazing. They are completely overwhelmed by the generosity and it is lovely to see a big grin on their faces.

One hamper went to a mother who had been tortured in Somalia and fled to the UK, another to a mum who had escaped from Libya and had nothing. Both women were overwhelmed with all the things donated"
Monica Garnett, Neonatal In-Reach/Out-Reach Team, St Mary's Hospital

‘A young couple came to our Day Centre exhausted, hungry, lost and felt the world was against them. They were expecting their first child and had very little for their baby. They walked for 4 hours each day to our centre for a hot meal. They were both becoming depressed and giving up. To our surprise the couple was gifted with a starter pack for a newborn with all brand new items and even a little treat for them! On behalf of Cornerstone Day Centre I say thank you. the couple smile when I see them now and feel hope in the world once more! ’
Alex McMahon, Cornerstone Day Centre

"I dropped your stuff off today and the mum was so pleased she rung me after she had opened it. She was in tears she was so grateful. You have made real difference to somebody in a difficult situation"
Liz Thomas, Homeless Families Health Visiting team, Gorton, Manchester

'Thank you so much for the lovely Moses basket and baby items you gave me for a lady in need. She was overwhelmed when I took the basket round and was so grateful. It gave her real peace of mind as she was worried about having nothing for when her baby arrived. It is such a fantastic service you are providing.'
Janette Leather, Health Visitor, Brinnington
