EORO's GED STUDY HALLS are the only after-school study hall programs inside youth detention facilities in the Bay Area addressing the special academic needs of incarcerated youth. Detained youth work one-on-one with academic tutors to pursue a General Education Diploma (GED). A GED can open the doors to educational and employment opportunities for youth who do not have the necessary credits to graduate from high school.

Over 582 youth have participated with 368 youth receiving their GED or passing 1-5 of the necessary examines prior to their release back to community. For more information on how to become a GED Tutor and Mentor click here!

The GED STUDY HALL is operated 52 weeks a year at the San Francisco Juvenile Justice Center Maximum Security Unit and at the San Mateo Youth Service Center.
If you are interested in expanding the ADAPT GED STUDY HALL to your institution or community school please contact Harold Atkins at or 650-225-9030.
