2015 Earth Day Cleanups


The Great Abington Cleanup 2018

Each spring, the EAC celebrates Earth Day by cleaning-up and beautifying parks and public areas throughout the township.  We need your help. Cleanups are a great way to bring your community together and make a difference in your neighborhood. We count how much area we clean and how much litter we pick up, and we report our results to the Great American Cleanup of PA*. In Pennsylvania last year, about 128,000 volunteers picked up over 6 million pounds of trash, and planted over 13,000 trees, plants and flowers.  What a difference!  The EAC provides  snacks, trash bags, gloves, safety vests and tools. Please wear long pants and sleeves, and sturdy shoes. Great American Cleanup Event # 12226:

Sat. March 24, 9:00-12:00 -  Crosswicks Audubon Sanctuary , 942 Crosswicks Road and Delene Road, Rydal. Maintain trails, remove invasive plants with Wyncote Audubon.

Saturday April 7, 9:00-12:00 - Ardsley Wildlife Sanctuary. meet at entrance at Maple and Jefferson Aves, Ardsley. Litter cleanup & sofa removal!

Saturday April 21, 9:00-12:00 - Keswick Ave Underpass Garden Keswick Ave between Mt. Carmel Ave and Glenside Ave. gardening, planting, mulching

Saturday April 28, 9:00-12:00 - STC Arbor Day Celebration at Roychester Park , 1833 Harding Ave and Parkview Ave (meet by the Community House), Abington. Help plant trees.

Sunday April 29, 9:00-10:00 Triangle Garden at Huntingdon Pike, Cedar Rd, and Old Huntingdon Pike. Cleanup litter, gardening, mulching.

Past Earth Day Events

Every spring, the EAC celebrates Earth Day by sponsoring township-wide cleanups and beautification projects. These community events include picking up litter from roadways, parks and streams, planting flowers and trees, beautifying green spaces, and restoring native habitat.  With the assistance from the township Parks and Recreation Department and Refuse Department, litter and debris are collected to help clean up the environment.

Sat. March 19 9:00-12:00 Lorimer Park. Meet at Moredun Rd. Lot. Cleanup litter.
