Spring school on Optimization and Algorithms in Dynamic Environments

Feb 18th, 2019 to March 1st

This school is organized by the Institute of Mathematics (VAST), Hanoi, Vietnam, and supported by CIMPA, SEAMS Schools (of the South East Asian Mathematical Society), and the ANR OATA project.

Objective

Introduction to the current concepts and mathematical approaches to the design of optimization algorithms in dynamically evolving environments. The aim of this school is two-fold: covering basic concepts and presenting actual research directions toward the goal of discovering the hidden geometry in machine learning and in non-stochastic, non-stationary adversarial settings.

Courses

More details can be found in the lecture plan. The courses require only basic knowledge on linear algebra, calculus and probability

Registration

The registration to the spring school is free, but registration is mandatory. Please register here.

We have fundings, mostly for foreign students but also for Vietnamese ones. Please mention your demands (if necessary) in the registration procedure.

News: We have attributed the fundings to applications; so no funding is available anymore.

Organizers

Lê Hải Yến, Nguyễn Hoàng Thạch and Nguyễn Kim Thắng.

Location

18 Hoàng Quốc Việt, Cầu Giấy district, Hanoi.

Room 301 in the A5 building (the main building of the Institute).

Related Event

The school is followed by a closely related workshop “Algorithms, Optimization and Learning in Dynamic Environments” organized at the Vietnam Institute of Mathematics (VAST) and the Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (VIASM) in Hanoi from 4 March to 8 March 2019.
