Romans 12:1-2

Romans 12:1-2

Romans 12:1-2. 1  I APPEAL to you therefore, brethren,

and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive
dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a
living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God,
which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual
worship. 2  Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after
and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed
(changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its
new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and
acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and
acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you]

Amplified

Vs 1 , and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God
In VIEW of God's abundant mercy towards us.  We have been saved and remain saved because of God,s awesome MERCY and there is nothing WE can do on our own to earn this. ... In VIEW of His mercy ... *Again in VIEW of His mercy*... We must always remember His mercy in our lives and without His mercy we are lost and on our way to hell.  Its only by His righteousness that we stand through His mercy toward us.  We have no righteousness of our own and we never will get to a place where we no longer need God's mercy.
So we say:

VS 1
.  in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship.

We do this because of God,s mercy.  We actively remember God's mercy that
was applied to our lives because of the blood that Jesus shed for our sin.  We do not do this to get God's mercy because His mercy has been freely given to us.  So as we remember and are thankful for his mercy, we present our very selves as a living sacrifice to Him (not dead, but living).  This is the difference of doing things our way or God's way. So we willingly and decisively sacrifice our ways on to the alter.  We sacrifice our self-will on to the alter.  We also sacrifice our selfishness and stubbornness.  We also sacrifice our weakness and insecurities; our fears and our pains.  We thrust all of us on to the alter of God as the word says:

Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall  Psalm 55:22  New International Version (©1984)

Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. James 4:8a
American King James Version

We learn about God's will
by getting into His word

This is our reasonable service and spiritual worship to the Lord.
As we place ourselves truthfully and fully on the alter of God as a living
sacrifice, this is what we get:

*when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord
.*
ACTS 3:19b
  American King James Version

As we present ourselves in this manner we remember to apply His forgiveness

and His mercy into our lives and begin to walk in His holiness, as God proves
unto us His awesome will for our lives. We learn about God's will by getting
into His word and through prayerfully studying it.  Through this process our minds are renewed more and more every day, and through this process there is less of me and more of Christ.  Yes, we get a revelation of His will for our lives and we begin to learn to walk in it.  As our will gets infused by His will we get closer to the place where we can ask what we will and it will be done for us, because our will is more and more becoming aligned with His will.

If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, you shall ask what you will, and it shall be done to you.  John 15:7 American King James Version

This needs to become a way of life for us as we
daily place our everything on the alter of God, and as we do this the Lord fills us with His joy.
We can hear Him say:
His lord said to him, Well done, you good and faithful servant: you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things: enter you into the joy of your lord.
Matthew 25:21  American King James Version

This is a promise that God gives us
when we fully give our lives without
compromise.
(Yes this applies to here as well as to heaven - The Lord will give us a taste of it here - without measure in glory)
We get this promise as we live to not be conformed to this present day world, but allow the Holy Spirit to transform us by renewing our minds (Romans 12:2), through the washing of the water by God's  word (Ephesians 5:26).  Jesus says, if we draw near to Him He will draw near to us (James 4:8a); as we put off the old man that is conformed to this dying and corrupt world and put on the new man that is formed after Christ (Ephesians 4:22-24).  As we do this we can experience His joy unspeakable and full of glory (1 Peter 1:8)  and our times of refreshing will come from the awesome presence of the Lord (Acts 3:19 or 20).  This joy does not depend on outward conditions, but on the Holy Spirit who dwells in the inner man,  Praise the awesome Name of the Lord.
