The Dursley & District Probus Club

The Dursley & District Probus Club has now closed

The Club was established in 1976 and was for retired or partially retired men to meet together twice a month for a chat and coffee or tea. Usually a guest speaker was invited to address the meeting and topics covered a wide range of interests.

A variety of other activities were also organised including walks, meals, outings, visits to places of interest like stately homes etc. see Gallery

Closure of Dursley & District Probus Club

It was with regret that we had to announce the closure of our Probus Club after 45 years.

At the extraordinary meeting of the Dursley and District Probus Club held on Tuesday 27th July.

The discussion of the falling number of members, the format of future meetings and inability to elect a committee from the members at the gathering resulted in a closure vote.

Those present were sorry to see the Club fold but it could not continue without a Committee and the three major officers.

The final meeting was held on Tuesday, 12th October 2021.at the Community Centre.

The presentation of our remaining funds to our chosen Charities - the Chantry Centre and the Dursley and District Community Association by our president Alan Miles to Geoff Wheeler, Vice Chair of the Chantry Centre and Arthur Ball of the Community Association who attended to receive their cheque on behalf of their charities..
