Mission Statement

Durham Region Pickleball includes players from the senior's centres of Oshawa, Whitby-Brooklin, and Port Perry.  These players play on a regular basis at the Brooklin Recreational Centre, the Legends Senior Centre, and the Scugog Community Centre, see where to play for locations. 

DRP is  affliated of with the Pickleball Association of Ontario and Pickleball Canada. The mission of DRP is to grow the sport of Pickleball through out Durham Region.  To provide new players of all ages with the best instruction we can in a safe playing environment.  One of the important focuses of DRP will be to introduce the game to all ages.  DRP hopes to work with educators, recreation and seniors coordinators and the the YMCA to provide programs for young adults and families.

DRP is committed to working with District 13 to promoted the growth of Pickleball at the district games.  Pickleball will be part of the Durham Summer Games on June 15, 2011 and all seniors are encouraged to participate.  The key word is participation.

DRP will be active in promoting the Ontario Open Pickleball Tournament taking place on August 13 and 14 at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology/Durham College, Oshawa.  This two day event is sanctioned by the Ontario Senior Games Association and is the first sports event to take place in a non Actifest year.  Over 100 picklers from across Ontario will be taking part in this first ever event.  Players and volunteers from DRP will be involved.  For more details on this exciting tournament go to Ontario Open Pickleball Tournament.
