Yoga Workshop for Skiers

As the seasons change thoughts arise of heading to the
mountains and carving that perfect turn. If you are a skier, you
should be aware that a yoga practice can assist in getting you ready for the
slopes this season. This workshop demonstrates poses in the Iyengar method
to lengthen as well as build strength in the body focusing on the feet, calves,
hamstrings, quads, hips, backs and shoulders.
A worksheet will be provided.
$20 prepaid $25 at the door
Martha Evers is a certified Iyengar yoga instructor who has taught in the
Durango area for 25 years. She is delighted her practice also has enabled her to
continue skiing these beautiful mountains.

Wednesday, September 23 – Nordic Team Buy Night at Pine Needle
Need to purchase some new gear this season? Pine Needle has what you need and will be offering special Team deals this evening. To better help serve you, we ask that skiers come in two waves: 4:30pm – High School skiers and 6:30pm – Middle School and younger skiers. We understand some families have multiple skiers or just can’t make the above times, so come when you can.
Tuesday, September 29 – Nordic Lease Night for Middle School & younger
Pine Needle Mountaineering offers a lease program for all Middle School skiers and younger. Swing by between 4:30-6:30pm to get sized and place your order.

Who: The Durango Nordic Team, friends, families and anyone interested in joining the Team
What: Annual Nordic get together for past, present and future Nordic Team members. Come reconnect or meet current teammates, board members, coaches and families.
When: Sunday, August 23rd from 3-5pm
Where: The James Ranch Cottonwood Pond
Directions: Use the main entrance to the James Ranch, continue down past the market and grill, past the hay barn on your left, continue straight to the ranch buildings at the “bottom” of the ranch, veer right and follow the road through the pastures until you see the pond (it takes a little bit of time).
What to bring: Swim gear: towels, floaties, snorkels, stand ups, noodles, kayaks….
Dry clothes, sunscreen, hats, comfy chairs, non-alcoholic beverages (if desired), and/or fruit, snacks or dessert - if you feel like it.

As of Wednesday March 18th the Nordic Center is closed for the season as we have more mud than snow on our trails. See you all next year.
