Thanks to all who managed to come out to our first event - Green in the Circle - making it a huge success!!
The day started out with a few opening comments by Steve Ma, President and GEO of Live Green, and an introduction of No Second Troy. After some spirited music, yoga in the circle, and more music, the mic was handed off to Michael Silverstein, Chair of Dupont Circle's Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC2B).
The afternoon was kicked off by Wendy Rieger from NBC 4, and included some informational speeches by Paul Shapiro, Jennifer Guillaume, Sonia McCormic, Ellice Perez, and Veronique Marier. Gowri Koneswaran brought to life an Earth Day poem, and MTV featured Beet Ya Feet Kings performed.
2:00 marked the last half hour to get signed up for the Green Rush, a scavenger hunt organized by Live Green which contained clues spread across the area. A mere 30 minutes later, pandemonium ensued as the pre-registered teams scattered from the circle seeking to complete challenges and hunting for clues.
After a bit of normalcy returned to the Circle, the girls from American University's all female acapella group, sang some spirited songs, followed by Jack Gregori, Ken Cobb, and Jaclyn Zubrzycki closed off the afternoon playing a mix of Americana / Roots Rock and Country.
If you missed the event don't fret, you can find a series of pictures taken from the event in this gallery, with more images to be added in the next few days. And remember, there are more events planned in the future.
Well our first event was a huge success! Thanks once more to all those involved, both in planning the event, and day of making sure that that it went off without a hitch.
