Greetings Populace of Dun Or!!
We simply can’t believe how fast this year is flying by...There is only a little over 3 months
left in 2016.
We would like to start by saying Congratulations to Ivan and Angharad on their recent
nuptials. We were honored to be there to witness the blessed event. May you have a lifetime
full of love and happiness together!
Highland War has recently passed and we wanted to say Congratulations to Roisin ni Brian on
her induction into the Order of the Argent Blade, Felipe de Trujillo, on receiving a Dolphin,
Crow for Winning the rapier tournaments (yes...both of them), and Marya Novgorodskaya for
taking third place in the Archery Zombie Fun Shoot!! Thank you to everyone that helped to
make the event a wonderful time for all of us...You are all greatly appreciated!
We recently attended Crown Tournament in the Barony of Calafia. Congratulations to Count
Agrippa, and Countess Bridget! Count Agrippa’s prowess on the field led him to victory.
Thank You, Countess Bridget, for being his inspiration. The weather and the location were
fantastic...All in all, it was a beautiful day spent with friends that have become family.
In August we hosted a wine core judging class at our house (put on by the Brewer’s Guild)
and we had about 12 or so people attend. The focus was on learning how to judge, and what
the judges look for when scoring a submission to one of the various brewing competitions
that the SCA holds. We hope everyone had a great time – We know that we did!
(If you are interested in learning about judging and/or brewing, the Right Noble Brewer’s
Guild of Caid is always willing to help. If you are unsure who to talk to, just ask one of us,
and we’ll put you in touch with them.)
In this issue:
Lastly, Great Western War is fast approaching. We are working to get things organized for
our Baronial encampment. The Dun Or encampment will be hosting the Brewer’s Meet and
Greet again this year, and there will likely be additional celebratory events in and around
camp. We hope you are all there to share in the festivities!
Long Live CAID!!
Yours in Service,
Posadnik Nikolai and Posadnitsa Álfrún
Saturday December 5th will be Dun Or's Yule event. Our gracious stewards Lord Torquil and Lady Hadassah Sarai Bas Yossi are working hard to make sure its going to be another beautiful Yule. So lets get those sides and deserts and drinks and have a great Yule. For more detailed information please go to https://sites.google.com/site/dunorhome/yule .
Great Western War was a fantastic war and we'd like to send out our deepest thanks to all those who helped volunteer as well as the amazing job done by those who hosted and set up this event. With out these people giving their time and energy there would be nothing for the populace to revel in.
Duchess Eilidh na Tire Dharigh and Duke Tomüki have done amazing work as co-stewards of this war.
Those wonderful volunteers who collected the recycling daily for the Caidian Travel Fund as well as the trash truly were noble champions. Thank You for keeping the site clean and doing an amazing job!
We'd also like to say how beautiful court was and congratulate the new Barony of Wintermist! Congratulations to Their Excellencies Baron Einarr Grabaror and Baroness Kale Al-Raqqasa
Also congratulations to those newly elevated as they have all earned these honors.
Last but not least those who went early and stayed after to set up and take down really are appreciated and did amazing work. All of the pavilions were beautiful and really helped in the heat when people needed a rest in the shade.
Plans are already in the works for next years war so lets start planning! Hope to see everyone there.
Highlands War hosted by the gracious Shire of Al-Sahid for such a wonderful event. A special thanks to event stewards Mistress Amariah of Chufut, Dame Teka Turmanov, THLady Miriam Shadewehauke, and Master Donal O'Brien without their tireless efforts this war would not have happened.
