Slavin Graves

The Slavin Church was a chapel of ease for parish members who lived far from the Inishmacsaint Parish Church at Church Hill (1686 - 1827) and then at Benmore after 1827.   It is located near the Rosscor Viaduct Road on A46, just east of Belleek.

Records for this new church date back to 1800.  The earliest grave stone is dated 1835.   There is an older graveyard nearby which has recently been documented by David Elliott of Kinfolk Finders.  Most graves at Old Slavin were Roman Catholic.  There were no Dundas or McBrien graves noted.

I documented many of these gravestones from visits in 1979, 1984, 1999 and 2002 with photographs.  Much weathering has been noted over this 23 year period.
