Thomas Moran


Thomas Moran is a graduate of Marquette University and Valparaiso University School of Law.  He is a former prosecutor serving on a felony jury trial team in Hudson County, New Jersey, He is also a former Cook County State's Attorney where he served in the Third Municipal District.

Since joining the firm in 1995, Mr. Moran has established himself as one of the leading DUI defense attorneys in the State of Illinois (Illinois Bar Journal 2006).  He along with his former partner, Edward Maloney (now a Cook County Circuit Court Judge) co-authored Chapters I and II of IICLE’s Premier Publication “Handling DUI Cases.”  This publication has become the gold standard for judges, prosecutors and practitioners across the State of Illinois.  Tom is currently the Co-Editor of this publication.    
Mr. Moran is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association where he served on the Traffic Laws and Courts Section Counsel and was Co-Editor of the ISBA Counsel’s newsletter.  

Mr. Moran is a former Chairman of the Criminal Law Committee of the Northwest Suburban Bar Association. He currently serves as the chairman of NWSBA DUI Committee.  He is also on the Executive Committee for the Illinois Traffic Conference held annually in Peoria, Illinois.  


Mr. Moran has been a featured speaker at Northwestern University Traffic Institute, Illinois State Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association, Northwest Suburban Bar Association, Mother Against Drunk Driving, Alliance Again Intoxicated Motorist, South Suburban Bar Association, Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education and the Illinois Traffic Court Conference.

Mr. Moran has litigated every type of DUI case including, alcohol, drug compounds, reckless homicide, and aggravated DUI.  

He was an adjunct professor at Harper College for ten years where he taught Criminal Law, legal writing, Probate and contracts.  He is married to his wife Karen and has five children.
