Students who have yet to hand in their represetative vs direct democracy (8-3-3c.pdf) should do so tomorrow and by Friday at the latest. Students have started the final part of this cluster, Ancient Rome, by completing a mapping activity. These are due tomorrow and will be discussed in class. Students will be using a notes frame page to take notes on Ancient Rome tomorrow in class. This notes fram and the powerpoint will be posted tomorrow once the students have looked at this as a class.

Students completed their forms of government group talks today. These went well and students asked excellent questions of their peers. As them about the new forms of government they are aware of!

Students handed in their Clash of the Titans essays in class today. Students who have not finished are reminded they will be required to stay after school or at lunch until these are handed in. Students started learning about democracy today. They have been given a handout on 5 different forms of government and have been placed in groups and asked to prepare pros and cons for one type of government they have been assigned. They will be presenting to the class on their assigned government on Wednesday, after class time to prepare group notes. The handout they received is posted below.

Formal assessments have been posted below for their comparative essay on Clash of the Titans. These essays are due on Monday. Students are expected to have them typed and will be receiving one class period in which to do so. If students need additional time they are asked to discuss this with myself on an as-needs basis.

Students have been watching Clash of the Titans, both the 1981 and 2010 versions. Students will be working on an essay. comparing and contrasting the movies not only to each other but to the original myth. Formal assessment rubrics for the essay will be handed out and discussed on Monday. but students are taking notes while they watch the movie to ensure they have not missed any details when they are writing.
