Letters were sent out by Friday, October 3, 2014. Please note that any student who was not invited to join the National Honor Society should plan a time to meet with Mrs. Andrews and Mrs. Melad if there are questions regarding the decision. Once such a meeting has taken place, the applicant may choose to appeal the decision by making a time to meet with Mr. Smith to discuss further.
At the start of July, all rising juniors and seniors who have a 3.8 average of higher will be sent a letter notifying them that they are being invited to apply to join the DS chapter of the National Honor Society.
If you have any incomplete grades at the end of the 2012-2013 school year, you will not qualify to apply until all incompletes are resolved. Please note that if you have an incomplete grade, you will not be receiving the invitation letter in early July, but you will still be able to apply to NHS in the fall once your grades are complete (assuming you have a 3.8 or higher). The application due date is Wed, 9/11, so you will need to have resolved any and all incomplete grades prior to that date. All current and prospective NHS members will want to note the key dates below:
Tuesday, July 9, 2013--NHS invitation letters sent out through the mail
Friday, Aug. 30—NHS Informational Session (optional)—7:00 AM
Wednesday 9/11: NHS Application Due
First week of October, 2013: Notification letters sent out to all applicants
Thursday 10/17: NHS Induction Ceremony--mandatory attendance for all current and new members
Thanks to everyone who showed up for our meeting. Stay tuned to your email--the officers will be in contact with further info on the December Group Service Project.
