Dr. Patricia Clark Kenschaft - Mathematics Educator, Research, Publisher, and Pioneer!
Hello everyone, my name is Mark Croxton and this website was designed and created for Dr. Patricia Clark Kenschaft in order to provide a web "space" for much of her work on equity in Mathematics Education.
In March 25, 2010, on her 70th birthday, I contacted Dr. Kenscaft via email to request her participation in a phone interview. This interview would serve as the basis for a paper on a "Famous Female Mathematician" I was to write as a class assignment in my History of Mathematics course at the University of Detroit Mercy.
I must say that I thorough enjoyed the interview and did not expect such a lighthearted conversation around serious issues such as family and equity in mathematics.
Dr. Kenschaft agreed to an interview with me which was conducted on Sunday, March 28, 2010. The interview lasted approximately 1 1/2 hours. In a follow up email on Monday, March 29, 2010 Dr. Kenschaft had this to say about the interview:
"If I had known ahead that our conversation last evening would last almost 1.5 hours, I would have either refused or dreaded it. However, I found you a delightful interviewer and conversationalist, and I thoroughly enjoyed it."
