Build a rocket as per the instrucitons in the Sourebook for Teaching Science.

Rocket Launch  & Projectile motion Analyzed with VideoPhysics App

  • Download the following Apps to your phone or pad 
    • Video Physics (video analysis)
    • Inclinometer 
    • Motion-X GPS
    • Wind Speed (annemometer)
    • AccelMeter (accelerometer)
  • Record Data
    • Position the rocket launcher so that it is pointed vertically. Check using your inclinometer app in your mobile phone
    • Record the windseed using your mobile wind spee App
    • Record your precise GPS location using the GPS App
    • Using your accelerometer App in your mobile device, determine the maximum acceleration obtained by jerking your device quickly.  Record in the table.  By doing a video analysis of the rocket you can determine its acceleration and compare with your tests on your mobiel device. 
    • Video the trajectory of the rocket. 
      • Plot the position of the rocket at each frame
      • Plot position vs. time and velocity vs. time using Video Physics
      • Upload Graph of rocket launch generated by analyzing the flight in Video Physics to our shared dropbox folder.
    • Video the trajectory of a tennis ball tossed straight in the air
      • Plot the position of the rocket at each frame
      • Plot position vs. time and velocity vs. time using Video Physics
      • Upload Graph of rocket launch generated by analyzing the flight in Video Physics to our shared dropbox folder.
