Naoufel Werghi received PhD in Computer Vision from the University of Strasbourg. He has been a Research Fellow at the Division of Informatics in the University of Edinburgh, Lecturer at Department of Computer Sciences in the University of Glasgow.  Currently he is Associate Professor at the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department in Khalifa University for Science and Technology.  He has been visiting professor in the University of Louisville, the University of Florence, University of Lille, the Korean Advanced and Institute of Sciences   and Technology in South Korea, and the Children National Health System in Washington.

His main research area is image analysis and interpretation where he has been leading several funded projects related to biometrics, medical imaging, remote, and intelligent systems.  He received the best paper award in the International Conference of Computer Vision, Theory and Applications 2011, and the University-Industry Research Award from the National Research Foundation in UAE, in 2011, and 2013.  He secured more than 15 research grant from local and international funding institution.

He is a regular reviewer of several journals including IEEE Trans. Image Processing, IEEE Trans. Neural Networks and Learning Systems, and IEEE Trans. Information Forensics and Security.  He has been a track chair in many international conferences.   He published more than 100 journal and conference papers.

He is IEEE senior member, member of the Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee, member of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society,  member of the IEEE Biometrics Council, vice-Chair of the IEEE communications and signal processing UAE chapter, and deputy-Treasurer of the IEEE computer society UAE chapter.
