Education
PhD. Experimental Aerodynamics - Technical University of Cottbus, Germany, 2011-2014
MSc. Mechanical Engineering - University of Hannover, Germany, 2007-2009
BSc. Mechanical Engineering - Mannheim University of Applied Sciences, Germany, 2003-2007
Professional Activities
Besides teaching at University, I am conducting Research and Development Projects in Pakistan and Germany. Recently, a research grant of 100,000 Euros has been awarded to me and Prof Ritschel to investigate the influence of Tubercles (small structures found on the Humpback of Whales) on wind turbine blades in a Wind tunnel. Based on the results of this Experimental Research a startup has been planned. Idea is to develop wind turbines and propellers having Tubercles on their leading edges. They will be quiter and more efficient than the traditional turbines and propellers.
Furthermore, some small projects such as Development of small gas turbine using an automobile turbocharger (Grant: 1 million PKR) has recently been completed.
Traveling Activities
Stories of Sindbad, Ibn e batota and Marco Polo have also inspired me since my childhood. This Inspiration led to a Journey from Germany to Pakistan by road. During this Journey i travelled through 9 international borders and 15 historic cities. I took the following route from Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Serbia,, Bulgaria, Turkey, Iran and finally to Pakistan.
Future Plans
Next Plan is to travel through Central Asia, Russia and Eastern Europe. Later on i will travel all the way through South America.
Biography
An expert in Experimental Fluid dynamics, I did my Bachelors and Masters in Mechanical Engineering from Universities of Mannheim and Germany. During my studies i got the opportunity to gain initial industrial experience at EADS (European Air Defence and Space) and ELOPAK. I completed my PhD from the Technical University of Cottbus, Germany. My doctoral work focused on investigating drag reduction using structured surfaces in a wind tunnel. Several flow measurement techniques were not only implemented but also developed and refined during this work. After submitting the Dissertation i worked for Siemens in Berlin as Test Engineer. Again, the duties invloved development of temperature measuring probes for large Gas turbines. Currently i am teaching Fluid and Thermal Sciences at University of Lahore and University of Rostock as well as conducting indiginous Research and Development projects.
