I am a research psychologist, currently employed as Associate Professor in Psychobiology and Health Psychology at Northumbria University, Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom. I also hold an adjunct appointment in the Medical School at the University of Western Australia.

Current research projects are investigating the interplay between personality, stress and physical health. Specifically, a current programme of work is focussed on the development of expressive writing interventions for enhancing psychological and physical wellbeing. I am also broadly interested in understanding psychological factors which influence sexual health.

In the past I have also conducted research into the role of glucose ingestion and glucoregulation on various aspects of psychological functioning (including diabetes) and nutritional influences (particularly carbohydrates and omega-3 fatty acids) on cognitive performance and mood - topics which I investigated as part of both my PhD and postdoctoral research.
