I reside in Basrah, Iraq, where I hold the position of a professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Basrah. I earned my initial degree, a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Computer Science, from the University of Basrah. Additionally, I hold a Master of Science (MSc) in Computer Science from the same institution. I obtained my PhD in Computer Science with a specialization in Language Engineering from the University of Manchester, UK. I was fortunate to have Professor Allan Ramsay as my PhD supervisor during my doctoral studies.

Scientific Interests
My primary research interests include:
Natural language processing (NLP): I am interested in developing computational techniques to analyze and represent natural language. The goal is to achieve human-like language processing for diverse tasks and applications.
Machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL): I am interested in developing mathematical models that enable computers to learn from data. These models can be used for tasks like speech recognition, medical diagnosis, and spam filtering.
Evolutionary optimization (EO): I am interested in developing problem-solving methodologies inspired by biological evolution. These techniques can be used to solve a wide range of problems, including scheduling, routing, and financial trading.
Text mining (TM): I am interested in extracting valuable insights from text data. This can be done by identifying patterns, trends, and associations in the text.
Digital image processing (DIP): I am interested in applying computer algorithms to manipulate digital images. This can be used to improve the quality of images, extract features from images, and classify images.
I have supervised numerous postgraduates and final-year undergraduate students in the aforementioned research domains and am always eager to mentor final-year undergraduates and postgraduates working on projects within these areas.
