Teaching Career
Dr. Marley Morris is a 25 year veteran educator. He has risen through the ranks as a high school teacher, assistant principal, principal, and now senior director of secondary curriculum and instruction. As an agri-science teacher, Dr. Morris grew his freshmen class of students from 32 students in 2000 to 134 students in 2001. During his tenure as a teacher, Marley was nominated four times for the teacher of the year award. As an assistant principal, he was entrusted with 350 students, campus technology, maintenance, construction, and a host of other responsibilities. He was nominated several times for Administrator of the Year Award from Sam Houston State University.
Campus Career
While serving as the principal of Crosby High School, Dr. Morris established dual credit courses, MECA courses, revamped off-campus CTE courses, and the special education program. He also developed Cougar's Crest, a student voice committee for students, and implemented the Shattered Dreams Program at Crosby. Dr. Morris also addressed campus morale by promoting faculty team exercises like ropes courses. At the completion of his first year, Dr. Morris brought Professional Learning Communities to Crosby and implemented a modified block schedule which allows late arrival Wednesdays for curriculum building and staff development. During Hurricane Ike, Dr. Morris assisted the superintendent and opened the school doors to establish a community shelter all night during the storm. Increased TAKS scores, higher participation in college courses, and campus redesigns reflect his relentless pursuit to continuous improvement as a building administrator.
Central Administration Career
In July, 2012, Marley continued his career by returning to Humble ISD to work for and shortly later as the Director of Career and Technology. Tasks in these positions include implementing instruction for all 160+ CTE courses, expanding certification offerings within CTE (from ~100 to ~4,000), and serving as the building principal for the Instructional Support Center. Marley also initiated a mobile application to showcase the CTE program and a separate application for the Humble Livestock Show, which broadcast live updates of the auction, an online job board for students, and a teacher instructional portal. Marley appreciates the relationship school districts have with businesses. Marley has served or is currently serving as a co-chair of the Lake Houston Chamber of Commerce Leadership Lake Houston Program, Humble Rotary board member, Co-Chair Humble ISD 100 Year Celebrations Committee , Lone Star College Process Technology Advisory Committee co-chair, and many more. Under his tenure, new programs such as TSTEM Academy, EMT, biotechnology, video game design, Cisco Academy, real estate agent, fire science, and process technology have been implemented. Dr. Morris has worked for expert teachers and staff to implement these and many other programs. Marley also earned the Young Entrepreneur and Professional Development Award in 2018. Dr. Morris served as an advisor for the Texas Education Agency Career and Technology Division as well as the past-president for the Career and Technical Association of Texas. Dr. Morris currently serves as the Senior Director of Secondary Curriculum and Instruction for Galena Park ISD. Under his leadership, an excess of $940,000 of additional funds were generated each year as a result new alignments in CTE courses. He also initiated the first elective fair in Galen Park-welcoming thousands of students and parents each year. Dr. Morris provided secondary summer school utilizing the district's student information system, Skyward in 2022. The district earned an "A" by the Texas Education Agency while Dr. Morris served as senior director serving along an enormous team of committed professionals.
Personal Life
Marley is married to Jamie, a dual enrollment math teacher and student council sponsor at Kingwood High School. Marley and Jamie first met at KHS as new teachers. They have been married for 22 years and have two boys, Matt and Evan. The family loves spending time outside-especially boating.
