Public engagement

I believe that academic work should have a beneficial effect for society and as a result I encourage dissemination of my research articles in popular press and further I would encourage opportunities to discuss consumer protection issues as part of debates at conferences, being on advisory panels or in other settings.  If you have any opportunities that fit my profile, please don't hesitate to contact me at l.hassan@bangor.ac.uk.  My tobacco-related consumer work was part of the legacy of the Help-for a life without tobacco campaign that was run by the European Commission.

Research findings from my
Tobacco Control article were featured in December 2013 in the Sunday Times National and Scottish edition.


I also took part in a plenary debate on Taking control of our lives at the Trading Standards Institute Conference 2014 facilitated by Matt Allwright (from the BBC Watchdog programme).
