I'm Camping: What Do I Need to Know?

Sweeeet. We hoped you would.

A few annoyingly obvious things to remember:

  • Dress & Pack for July in Iowa: This includes but is not limited to a hat, sun & mosquito protective clothing, smart shoes, insect repellent, sunscreen, & a sombrero for good measure (and charisma).
  • Food. Pack in Prepared: This means your cooler.  Bring plenty of beverages & food for you and your group or purchase food and drink at Randy's Bluffton Store.
  • Keep your pets on a leash. We love our four-legged friends as much as the next guy. But for the safety of children and everyone else involved, keep your pets leashed and quiet.
  • DON'T BRING IN FIREWOOD. This is very important.  A current quarantine on bringing in outside wood to the area is in effect.   Firewood will be provided on site for a suggested donation.
  • Please try & bring your own reusable water bottles and camping tableware if you have it. We'd really like to minimize their use out of respect for our natural environment and pocketbook.
FAQ:
Are children encouraged? Of course! The Driftless Drift is a family friendly event.  Only above average children are allowed, however.

Given that I'm bringing my children, can I also bring some beer?  Again, of course! Don't be silly! While our event will not be selling or distributing alcoholic beverages, responsible legal adults are totally able to bring and enjoy beverages of their choice in a way that is respectful of the individuals and property around them.

Is there water available?  We will have water available on site for no charge. We want to encourage folks to bring their own reusable water bottles, cups, and other tableware to keep our impact on the environment as minimal as possible.

What about bathrooms? Two gorgeous words: porta potties.
