Honorary Assistant Professor at University of Birmingham. University of Birmingham staff page.
I am an interdisciplinary scientific researcher with over 18 years' experience at academic and governmental organisations. My experience covers a broad range of climate-related science, including atmospheric chemistry, climate science, public health, air quality, urban climate, health impact assessment, geology, geochemistry, paleoclimate, global/regional numerical modelling, and public engagement.
I currently work at the UK Health Security Agency (formerly Public Health England), in the Centre for Climate and Health Security, at the Chilton site (Radiation Chemical Climate and Environmental hazards, RCCE) based on the Harwell Science Campus, near Didcot in Oxfordshire. I am also an Honorary Assistant Professor at University of Birmingham, and am part of the Government Scientific and Engineering (GSE) profession, and GSE Champion since 2020.
I currently work on environment and health research, using numerical simulations and epidemiological methods to understand the impact of heat (including the urban heat island) and air pollution on public health, as well as conducting reviews. I also lead on applying climate projections to assess future health risks from climate change at UKSHA, and am part of the UKCP Data and Knowledge Sharing (DaKS) group.
