Current Broad Area of Research

  • Synthetic Organic, Bioorganic and Medicinal Chemistry, Chemical Biology, Chemo and Bioinformatics, Advanced Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API), Innovative Process for Blockbuster Drugs

Sub Area of Research

  • i) Ligand and structure-based screening of designed and synthesized chemical library based on Psammaplin A and Plinabulin against different kinds of DNA methyltransferase enzyme

ii) Chemistry around Tri and Tetrasubstituted Methanes (TRSMs) as M tb ATP Synthase inhibitors; Asymmetric Synthesis of 9-substituted Xanthenes as constrained TRSMs having anti-TB properties

iii) Applications of Bucky-Bowls as biomaterials and carriers for selective drugs

iv) Disruptive Innovative Process Research for Blockbuster Drugs like Bedaquiline, Paliperidone, Iloperidone and Quetiapine

    v) Target and diversity oriented Synthesis of Bioactive natural products and designed chiral molecules from Amino Acids through identification of new synthetic methods

  • vi) Quest for Steroidomimetics: Amino acids Derived Chiral Steroidal and non-steroidal architectures as anti breast cancer agents

Postdoctoral Research: I was involved in Solid Phase Synthesis (SPS) of heterogeneous catalysts and their development as new catalytic systems for exhibiting enhanced reactivity. A bio-mimetic approach in designing Rh-based heterogenized catalysts that exhibited prolonged activity during hydroformylation reactions was developed

Doctoral Research: I was involved in multi-step organic transformations for total synthesis of Buckminsterfullerene (C60). Several new and conceptually simple approaches to fullerene fragments (bucky-bowls) that can be applied to fullerenes (bucky-balls) have been conceived and explored
