PROFILE
Associate Professor Dr Faris Gorashi has over 14 years of experience as an academician, administrator, water resources engineer, and hydrologist. His expertise includes water network design and simulation, water quality modeling, waste water reclamation and reuse, environmental impact assessment, sustainable development and general management. He has worked with multi-national companies and organisations, holding various technical, research, general management and consultancy posts.
Dr. Faris holds a PhD in Built Environment from the Faculty of Architecture and Environmental Design of the Islamic University Malaysia (2009), a Master of Engineering in Hydrology (2002) and a BSc Honors in Civil Engineering from Omdurman Islamic University.
He has published a number of journal papers and developed the LA-WQI model. He has also held several lecturer and administrative posts at a number of institutions of education. Currently he is the Head of Post-Graduate Studies in the Department of Civil Engineering at IUKL. He is also an Associate Professor of the same department.
A registered civil engineer and member of professional international bodies such as: ASCE, IWA, EWB, EWRI and ISSMGE. Quality-conscious and achievement-oriented, motivated to produce work that is of a high standard and observant, quick to spot errors and critical where work is concerned..

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology Infrastructure at IUKL is a member of School Senior Management Team and reports directly to the Dean. With particular responsibility for the development of research, new business opportunities both overseas and nationally, partnership development and income, the Deputy Dean will support the Dean in the strategic leadership of the School playing an active role in the definition and implementation of strategies underpinning the development of the School.
The Head of postgraduate programmes at the faculty oversees all academic and student affairs for the programme. He is a member of the postgraduate Academic Committee PAC and his responsibilities include (but not limited to) development of new programmes, obtaining full accreditation for current programmes, maintain and update students’ records and plays an important role in continuous quality improvements CQI of the postgraduate programmes.
An Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer undertakes teaching and assessment duties on undergraduate as well as postgraduate programmes offered by the department. Develop relevant Syllabi, design and delivery of the curriculum, and improve the quality of teaching and learning process. Supervise students, undergraduate and postgraduate including PhD students, Undertake research both within the Universities as well as at industry and ministry level.
