  Why Detoxify

We detoxify for health, vitality, to clear symptoms, treat disease and prevent future problems.


Who Needs to Detoxify

 If you eat the food, drink the water or breathe the air on our planet you are ingesting toxins.  Another area that is often overlooked but frequently needs detoxifying is emotions. Most of the time the body is able to rid itself of toxins, but at times it is overwhelmed and need a helping hand to get the job done.  We have five very powerful detoxification organs that eliminate toxins.  They are; the liver, colon, kidneys, lungs and skin. When the organs of detoxification can no longer keep up with the toxic load the
toxins are circulated through the bloodstream.  They get stored in the liver, body fat and many other parts of the body.
 
 
How does detox fit in with other medical therapies?
 
Although there are a number of therapies that will address the above conditions, detoxification will speed healing and at times detox is necessary to get the healing process to begin.  Detox programs can be gentle enough to use on a daily basis.  Other programs are more rigorous.  Them more rigorous programs are conducted once or twice a year with good planning and with a doctor supervising the process.  Upon completion of one of the stronger detox programs the body should be given time to rest and rebuild before attempting another detox program.  The goal of any of these programs is to rid the tissues and organs of toxins.
 
 
What is a Healing Crisis?
 
Cleansing may cause a healing crisis.  This happens when toxins are released from the tissues faster than the detox organs can process and eliminate them.  The symptoms of a healing crisis may be fever, pain, headaches, skin rashes, body odor, fatigue, irritability, or an aggravation of previous conditions.  Do not suppress the symptoms with drugs.  This will just cause these toxins to redeposit in the tissues and they will need to be removed again.  If the symptoms are too severe because a massive amount of toxins
are being dumped, you can slow the detox process or help the toxins to be removed faster so they are not put back into the bloodstream.  There are several techniques for this.
 
Huge amounts of toxins are processed by the liver and sent to the bowel for elimination.  Constipation holds these toxins in the bowel long enough for them to be reabsorbed into the bloodstream where they can be deposited into tissues and organs again.  They must be removed and processed by the liver again.  Having to process toxins several times before actual elimination puts a huge burden on the liver.  Therapies to remove toxins faster need to be implemented.

 


 What are signs of a heavy toxic load?
 
As toxins build up in the organs and tissues they cause diminishing function.  This can lead to quite a few problems throughout the body, contributing to the development of serious disease.  The following is a partial list of conditions that could be caused by toxic overload.
  • More than 20 pounds overweight
  • Diabetes
  • Gallstones
  • Psoriasis, rashes
  • Gastrointestinal problems
  • Weakened immune system
  • Chronic fatigue and general low energy
  • Irritability and mood swings
  • Headaches

Will a general detox program cover the needs of my entire body?
 
There are many detox program that target specific organs and systems.  The following organs are targeted during detoxification programs.

  • Lungs
  •  Skin
Your current health picture will determine which kind of detox you need to use.  Most of the time a general detox will do a good job.  At other times one of the organs of detoxification may need special attention.  


When should I detoxify?

Detoxification can and should be an integral part of your life.  There are some detox practices that you should do on a daily basis.  These are very mild yet do a world of good.  Other practices can be done once a month and a rigorous detox should be accomplished annually.  Many people detox with the change of seasons using different programs with different seasons.  

Start detoxification slowly if you wish but start now to cleanse your body of toxic substances that prevent you from feeling the best you can.
