Dr. Arun’s research is concerned with the fundamentals of advanced composite materials and structures, machine design and product development with application to aerospace and societal needs. Particular focus areas are composite LH2 storage tank development for Zero emission aircraft, Composite processing, Advanced composite fabrication, Assistive devices & technology and special purpose machine design. His research is predominantly experimental & analytical but also includes theoretical and numerical studies, often in collaboration with other groups. He was involved in the development of advanced composite Hansa NG wing, Autoclave technology, adult prosthetic knee joint, walking simulator for knee joint testing and Paediatric Knee joint. In addition, technology transfer of the adult polycentric knee joint, desktop autoclave & autoclave technology was carried out, where he played a key role in the mechanical design team.

Currently, he is carrying out preliminary studies on the LH2 hydrogen storage tank development
