Throughout ESO, pupils are prepared in order to achieve oral fluency without neglecting their oral comprehension and written skills.

In first year of ESO pupils have three hours a week of English in small groups in order to promote oral expression. Next year, is expected to introduce the subject Technology in English.

In second year of ESO, we offer a quarterly two hours a week subject, Arts&Crafts.

From second to fourth year of ESO, pupils have two hours a week of English with the whole class and one hour a week with half the class in order to continue improving oral expression.

From first to fourth year of ESO, the school offers a two hours a week non-compulsory subject called Europe. This subject reinforces the concept of European citizenship, through contact with other European schools which use English as a means of communication.

In third year of ESO, pupils do Physics and Chemistry in English (Except formulation and inorganic nomenclature) for half the school year. Fourth year pupils can choose to continue studying Physics and Chemistry as an optional subject in English.


Durant l’ESO, preparem els alumnes perquè assoleixin una expressió fluïda i amb un cert nivell de correcció, sense deixar de banda les habilitats de comprensió oral i escrita.

A 1r d’ESO treballem amb grups reduïts 3h. a la setmana, per afavorir sobretot l’expressió oral. El curs que ve, està previst introduir l’anglès a l’assignatura Technology.

A 2n d’ESO, oferim l’assignatura trimestral Arts&Crafts, de 2h. setmanals.

De 2n a 4t d’ESO, es fan dues hores setmanals amb tot el grup classe i una hora amb el grup partit per continuar potenciant l’expressió oral.

De 1r a 4t d’ESO s’ofereix Europe, una optativa de 2h. setmanals, amb la qual pretenem fomentar el concepte de ciutadania europea, tot establint contactes amb altres escoles europees amb l’anglès com a llengua vehicular. Es treballen coneixements transversals on es potencien, reforcen i amplien conceptes adquirits en diferents àrees i també es potencien les competències en expressió i comprensió en llengua anglesa alhora que es fomenta l’ús de les noves tecnologies aplicades a les diverses àrees que es treballen.

A 3r, l’assignatura quadrimestral Physics & Chemistry s’imparteix en llengua anglesa (excepte la formulació i la nomenclatura inorgànica). A 4t, l’assignatura optativa Physics & Chemistry també s’imparteix en anglès.


International Education

International Education is an association of 25 schools which organizes exchanges and common activities for about 1800 students at the secondary level in 12 European countries. 

Since 2005, IE has launched its own common course in 10 of its partner schools. The course is called European Citizenship and aims at increasing awareness of the European Union and the feeling of belonging to the same community.


It was Sunday afternoon 27th when nine Catalan students went to Lleida’s train station to pick up the German students that came from Göttingen; The ones from Monchengladbach had arrived at midday. I can perfectly remember that I was so nervous and excited. It was the first time that somebody from another country was going to stay in my house. Someone shouted: “They are coming”, I could see tall people! and I saw Paula, my exchange partner. In the way home, I showed her all the places and sites through the window of the car. She was very interested in that, because it was the first time that Paula came to Spain. When we arrived home, we had dinner. My mum prepared us some Bread with tomato and ham. She didn’t know how to spread the tomato on the bread! It was so funny.

During the week we have done a lot of activities and trips. On Monday, we went to school and the Catalan students presented some works to introduce them to our country, and then we spend some time in the playground. In the afternoon, we went to la Seu Vella with all the Göttingen students and after that, we had a walk along the Main Street.

On Tuesday, we took the bus to Lleida and we did a kind of tour made by us, the Catalan students, but the best was when we had hot chocolate and “xurros” for breakfast. When we finished, we returned to Claver and we played in the school playground. Then, we got in the bus to go to the Bowling, and we spent there all the afternoon having fun.

On Wednesday, we went to visit Barcelona city. First of all, we stopped in Sagrada Familia (Gorgeous!). Afterwards, we were driven to “Les Rambles” and we stayed there for three hours more or less. Then, we went ice-skating to Barcelona’s Football Club rink. The German students know how to skate well! We returned to Lleida around eight o’clock in the evening. At nine o’clock, one Catalan student invited us to go to her house to watch the football match. (FCB versus Real Madrid). We were twenty people in a flat!

On Thursday, all the Catalan students of our year and the exchange students took the bus to go to Tarragona, and did there a tour around the Roman city. It lasted two hours. Later, we walked to the beach because in Germany they hadn’t got it like in Spain, with sand… so it was exciting for them. We arrived in Camp d’Esports at six o’clock in the afternoon. That night, my family and I prepared a dinner because it was my mum’s birthday and the last day with Paula. We had a really great time in family, and Paula was so nice because she tasted snails, which for her, were so disgusting. But she liked them! at night, we organized a farewell party.

And finally, on Friday morning, we took Paula to Lleida’s train station and we said goodbye to all the German students, wishing to see them again in March.

It was a really enjoyable week. I had learnt a lot of things about Germany, about the people and the traditions; and I could appreciate that not all the Germans are closed or boring. I want to think that, in this exchange, we have made good friends and we have spent a good time together. I have learnt from Paula, and Paula has learnt from me.

International Education és una associació de 25 escoles que organitza intercanvis i activitats en comú per uns 1800 estudiants de secundària en dotze països europeus.

Des de l'any 2005, IE ha posat en marxa un curs propi amb 10 de les seves escoles associades. El curs s'anomena European Citizenship i té com a objectiu augmentar el coneixement de la Unió Europea i el sentiment de pertinença a una mateixa comunitat.

In recent years the pupils of ESO have participated in different Comenius projects. The European Comenius project's principle goal is to improve the quality of learning, reinforce the European ethos, promote the learning of languages and sympathy and respect for other cultures. In order to achieve these goals different European countries work together.

We are currently working with Italy, France, Latvia, Poland and Greece in the Comenius project (2011-13) called Sun: skills you need for successful teaching-learning process.

The aim of our current Comenius is to analyse the evolution of the teacher student role in the teaching learning process and to define the ideal characteristics of these roles so that our teaching quality can get better in a near future, as well as to find new pedagogical strategies to face the educational targets of XXI century.

Els alumnes d’ESO, des de fa uns anys, participen de diferents projectes Comenius.

Els Comenius són projectes europeus que tenen com a principals objectius  millorar la qualitat de l’ensenyament, reforçar la seva dimensió europea, promoure l’aprenentatge de llengües i fomentar la sensibilitat cap a d’altres cultures. Per a desenvolupar aquests objectius, es realitzen associacions de diferents centres educatius de diversos països.

Actualment, treballem amb Itàlia, França, Letònia, Polònia i Grècia en el projecte Comenius 2011-13, que duu el nom Sun: skills you need for successful teaching-learning process.

L'objectiu d'aquest Comenius és analitzar l'evolució del rol del mestre i l'estudiant en el procés d'ensenyament-aprenentatge i definir les característiques ideals d'aquests rols per a que la qualitat del procés educatiu pugui millorar en un futur proper, així com trobar noves estratègies pedagògiques per fer front als objectius educatius del segle XXI.
