(August 2017) This site was updated and the book
with a few minor revisions reflecting new research which have been included in this site.

Printed copies of the second edition are identifiable by the yellow cover.

If you already have received or downloaded a printed copy of the first edition (with a white cover), an addenda is downloadable from the bottom of the order page containing the new additions - but you may download the complete second edition now if you prefer.

It may also be downloaded from here.

A new edition will be produced by summer 2019. It will have a Recommended Retail Price of £8.99 so that it may be sold in shops and on Amazon, though I hope those who really need it could still get a free copy.
The new edition will not be substantially any different to the current one but carry some more recent research links.

Meanwhile, new material included in the new edition may be found in the addenda.

This book is FREE as a download, as is this website.

Printed copies are now available.

Thanks to a grant from Southampton City Council, the first batch of printed copies of the book was provided free as an A4 sized paperback and, having an ISBN, is available to libraries and copies may be given to newly-diagnosed patients.

Although the book is free, we do invite a minimum donation of £7, plus postage (£1.74 in UK, £7.45 to USA and £7.90 to Australia) so we may continue to provide more copies for those who need it. If you wish to donate, please make a contribution to Barrett's Wessex using either of these links: or  specifying it's for Down With Acid and email your address details to so we may post you a copy.

Printed copies of the second edition have been paid for from the donations received for the first edition.

You may download a FREE pdf copy from the order page.

Over 120 A4 pages with full colour illustrations.
