WHAT IS DOVIA?
DOVIA stands for Directors of Volunteers in Agencies. It is a professional association for volunteer program managers and leaders of volunteers (both paid and unpaid!).  We have been meeting in the New Orleans area for many years and have been able to meet for the last year at Ashe' Cultural Arts Center in New Orleans as their guest.
 
We meet quarterly and have guest speakers who bring information to the group on various topics of interest to volunteer leaders. We have had speakers on recruiting, retention, recognition, social media and more! We also host half-day training periodically to help the professionals in the field obtain in-depth information on specific subjects.
 
Meetings are open to the public and all volunteer leaders can attend. Meetings are free to organization members and $10 for non-members.
 
 
OUR NEXT MEETING:
Our next meeting is on Wednesday, June 23rd. We will meet at Ashe' Cultural Arts Center, located at 1712 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd., New Orleans (near Cafe Reconcile). The meeting will begin at noon and wrap up around 1:30pm. Bring a sack lunch for yourself - dessert will be provided. The guest speaker this quarter is Debbie Bresler, a special events professional, who will talk about what goes into making a special event great and what to think about in this time of economic challenges.
