Immigration: The Refugee Experience
There is a global refugee crisis resulting from political chaos, natural disasters, wars and other types of unrest. 68.5 million people have been displaced, 25.4 million of them seeking refuge in other countries, another 3.1 million seeking asylum.

Our values as Dover Democrats reflect our interest in upholding the dignity of all people. The current political climate has called our attention to the plight of some immigrants among us, some having to live in fear. Understanding of their predicaments will make us better able to take action consistent with our Democratic values.

We will hear from members of our community who have left their home countries and resettled here in the U.S. Their first-hand account is aimed to give us empathy and understanding of those who will likely need our support in the future.
