Welcome to the website of the Dorset Pain Society!

One in 4 of us at any time could suffer with pain and whether you are visiting our site as a resident of Dorset, from another part of England or indeed from around the world, we hope you enjoy going through the information provided and find it useful for the management and understanding of pain.

The membership of our society comprises  service users who are living with pain, their carers,  multi-disciplinary service providers  such as pain and other medical specialists, general practitioners,  an array of therapists  - occupational therapists, physiotherapists,  chiropractors,  osteopaths, psychologists, in the NHS and in the private sector,  commissioners of service, researchers and academicians ...  The aim of coming together has been to create a stimulating and representative  centre of connectedness  and excellence within the pain fraternity in Dorset.

Coping with persistent pain is one of the greatest challenges of life. Being ill for a day is one thing – waking up with pain almost every day is another. We salute the men, women and children who, despite being beset with pain, strive to overcome the limitations it imposes in order to lead rich and meaningful lives ... we pledge our support to continue the battle alongside these unsung heroes .  As Winston Churchill said, "Success is not final , failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts”.

Don’t stop believing!
