Workshop Days & Open Rehearsals

Upcoming dates

Mole Valley Arts Alive Event: Dorking Philharmonia Open Rehearsal
Watch this space!

During Open Rehearsals we generally rehearse a major work, possibly one that we are going to play in the coming season.
Admission is free and tea and cakes are served during the interval to welcome new players who may also wish to join the orchestra.

If there are no Open Rehearsals coming up, you can also contact us if you would like to come along to join a normal Wednesday rehearsal.

Workshop Days

Over the past few years, as part of Mole Valley's Arts Alive October festival, we've run orchestral workshops to rehearse and perform larger scale pieces. These have included Mahler's 1st Symphony, Shostakovich's 10th Symphony, Bartók's Concerto for Orchestra, Vaughan William's London Symphony (no. 2) and Holst's Planets Suite.

These workshops usually take place in the Autumn - details will appear when the next one has been planned and we are taking applications.

Open Rehearsals

Each year we run some open rehearsals on Wednesday evenings at our usual rehearsal venue (The Christian Centre, St. Martin's Church RH4 1DW between 7.30 and 9.45pm).
We play through some new repertoire and encourage visitors to come along and join in, to try out the orchestra or just to enjoy playing some great music.
Recently we worked our way through Schumann's Symphony Nº4 in D minor Op.120 and Brahms Serenade No. 1.

Details will appear on here when we have an open rehearsal planned.

If there isn't one coming up and you are interested in becoming a member of the orchestra, we have vacancies in the Strings and Brass and you are welcome to contact us (enquiries@dorkingphilharmonia.org.uk) about joining in a rehearsal any Wednesday evening - rehearsals run from 7:30-9:30 in the St. Martin's Christian Centre, Dorking.
