Spring 2020: MATH 858L (Selected Topics in Analysis: Mathematical Methods in Machine Learning)
This course is designed for those who have a strong math background and want to learn more about machine learning. No prior knowledge of machine learning is required. We will first go through some basics of machine learning. Then we will turn to some research papers from topics such as harmonic analysis based methods, mathematical theories of deep learning, dimensionality reduction techniques, optimization, etc. The grade will be based on homework and presentation.
