Lane Boozer Meets with Gov. Perry at Historic Bill Signing

(Austin, Texas, June 9) – Denton native Lane Boozer, LUTCF, a trustee of the National Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors-Texas, met with Texas Gov. Rick Perry this week to witness the signing of Senate Bill 567, a measure that increases consumer protections for annuities under the Texas Life and Health Guaranty Association Act.

The legislation, sponsored by Senator Tommy Williams of The Woodlands, won unanimous support among lawmakers during the recent regular session of the 82nd Texas Legislature. It follows the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) Model Life and Health Guaranty Association Act recommendation that annuity protections, currently at $100,000 per life, be increased to $250,000 per life. The change in current law becomes effective Sept. 1, 2011.


Boozer is one of seven trustees, elected statewide, who serve on the board of the largest association of agents and financial advisors in Texas. He is a past president of NAIFA-Texoma, the local affiliate of National Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors, Falls Church, VA. and Washington, D.C. Mr. Boozer practices locally with the insurance brokerage agency, Don Boozer and Associates, Inc. in Corinth.
