  • Visiting scholar at UC Berkeley in 1985-1986 on anthropology of ICT (at the IURD, Manuel Castells lab, work with J. Gumperz and A Strauss, conferences and research meetings at UC Irvine (Kling), UC San Diego (Cicourel), U Southern California (Rogers), Carnegie Mellon (Kiesler and Sproull), MIT (Turkle, Russell Newmann), etc.

  • Former editor in chief of the journal “ Les Cahiers du Numérique ” (éditions Hermès) 2000-2004.
  • Editor in chief of the journal « Cosmopolitiques » (éditions de l’Aube, then Apogée) since January 2002.



Domains: ICT uses (appropriation, interpretation, manipulation), cognitive anthropology, politics of technical architectures, digital city, community informatics, digital humanities ( digital technologies for Social sciences research), man-machine interfaces (ergonomics and terminology), technical documentation and help systems, anthropology and sociology of innovation, semiotics of digital formats (including game immersion and virtual worlds), media audience research, innovation strategies.
