Dominic J. Williamson

I am an Australian theoretical physicist specialising in topological phases of quantum matter and quantum error correction.  I have a decade of research experience at the interface of quantum matter and quantum computing.

You can find me on LinkedIn, Twitter, Google Scholar, and Orcid.

Here is my CV (as of July 2024) .

All of my papers are available on the arXiv and Google Scholar (except for this one).

If you are interested in discussing my research, feel free to send me an email.

My professional history:

In 2024 I joined IBM as a Research Staff Member working on quantum computing and quantum error correction.

From 2021-2024 I was a DECRA fellow in the quantum theory group at The University of Sydney working on Topological phases of matter for quantum computation

From 2019-2021 I was a postdoc in Patrick Hayden's group at the Stanford Institute for Theoretical Physics. While at Stanford I worked on quantum error-correcting codes inspired by topological phases, phase transitions and holography.

From 2017-2019 I held a condensed matter theory postdoc position in Meng Cheng's group at Yale.  While at Yale I worked primarily on unconventional fracton topological phases of matter.

I completed my PhD in 2017 in Frank Verstraete's group at the University of Vienna. During my PhD I worked on developing the theory of tensor networks for the description of topological phases of matter

I got started in 2012-2013 doing honours and master's research in the quantum theory group at the University of Sydney.
